Highlights from the Land of Lincoln

Last weekend we visited my family in Peoria, IL and Quinn got enough love and attention to last a couple months until we get to see them again.

One day we were lucky enough to get a barnyard backstage pass from Ron of Barnyard Discoveries in Kickapoo, IL. His mobile petting zoo travels all over the Peoria area to schools, libraries, birthday parties and events. We went to his farm and saw all the cute farm animals on their home turf.

Quinn told me later that feeding the baby calf was his favorite part (followed by seeing all the farm trucks).

That's a miniature horse that Quinn was leading around!

After playing at the farm in the hot sun, we needed to cool off back at Grammie & Papa Joe's house.

This kid loves to laugh.  And Papa Joe is funny so they make great playmates.

And after a day like that, there's nothing better than reading a book with Grammie.

After a couple days it was time to go stay at Papa Steve's house across town. We got to go exploring around his woodland property. It is so lush and green this time of year with plenty of things for little boys to explore.

I think this is one of my all-time favorite photos of him. I might need to blow it up big for my wall.

My dad's house is very zen. I think he could run a bed and breakfast.

Dinner on the porch. Looks like a page from Martha Stewart Living!
